Transform your event with real-time subtitles

Create an amazing translation experience. Show real-time subtitles on public displays and people’s mobile devices.

Why Use Subtitles?

Subtitles can complement or replace other ways of providing translation like audio streaming. They also provide accessibility for people with hearing loss. Here are five more reasons why you may want to use subtitles at your next event.

1. Honor other languages spoken at your events by displaying them prominently.

Show every person that they belong and that this experience is meant for them too.  Remind majority language speakers of their presence.

What languages does spf.io support?

We support over 40 languages for bidirectional speech translation, and over 60 languages for text translation. Languages with the * asterisk only support text translation.

Here’s the full list: Afrikaans, Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Armenian, Basque, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chichewa *, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek, Gujarati, Haitian Creole *, Hawaiian *, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong *, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Javanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Korean, Kurdish (Kurmanji) *, Kyrgyz *, Lao, Latin *, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malayalam, Malaysian, Marathi, Mongolian, Myanmar (Burmese), Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Samoan *, Serbian, Setswana, Sinhala, Slovak, Slovenian, Somali *, Southern Sotho, Spanish, Sundanese, Swahili, Swati, Swedish, Tajik *, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uyghur *, Uzbek, Venda, Vietnamese, Xhosa, Zulu

2. Conveniently scale to any audience size.

People don’t need special equipment to receive translation. They can sit wherever they want and just look at public screens or their phones.

3. Support language learning.

People can correlate the sound of the language being spoken with the translated subtitle text.

4. Increase the usage and benefit of translation services.

Some audience members may feel embarrassed to use headsets because it shows that they are not fluent in the spoken language. Subtitles are a safe alternative that let them understand what is said without feeling awkward.

5. Enhance live video feeds.

Spf.io supports chroma key so that you can overlay the real-time subtitles on live video feeds.

How It Works

Spf.io can project real-time subtitles onto public displays and people’s mobile devices.

These subtitles can come from three sources:

First, if you already have interpreters, they can speak into spf.io’s streamer and stream automatic captions of their speech. What they say will be shown on screen.

Second, if you have captioners (either trained to use spf.io’s AI-assisted captioning feature or using CART), the captions can be automatically translated into many languages. Up to three languages can be shown on one screen.

Third, if you use a script, it can be automatically translated and displayed in real-time.

Spf.io enables you to switch between these different sources on the fly. This means that no matter which source is used, your audience can simply read it on the public display or on their mobile devices.

Raise the bar

Subtitles are a transformative way to provide event translation. After experiencing it once, many people ask for it when it’s not available. By using subtitles, you’re not only giving people access to your event in their language, you’re raising the bar, creating an experience unlike any other.
