See what our customers say about ACT

Reactions from RX24 visitors on spf.io‘s live translation and captions.

Whereas before, maybe we can only have 20 people listening, now, it’s unlimited.
Before we could only have two languages broadcast at a time, [and] now it is over 60 languages.
Before, you needed a human translator per language group, but now you need one operator for 60 languages.

One thing that personally I truly appreciate is there is no rigidity to spf.io. There is flexibility, and that is priceless. So if things change, if a session may run a little bit long, or if there is a last-minute pivot where it’s gonna start a couple of minutes late–not everyone is that flexible. And that’s something that not just we appreciate, but the clients truly appreciate.

Spf.io was a game-changer in my classroom. Because it translates quickly and silently, it allows my students to inconspicuously access information the same way as their peers, and that’s a big deal when you’re in high school.

What if I already have interpreters for my event?

That’s great! Spf.io’s Automatic Captions & Translation (ACT) can actually work alongside your existing interpreters to further enhance your event’s accessibility and streamline interpretation.

Your interpreters can speak the interpretation directly into the streamer and get it automatically captioned through interpreter subtitling. This eliminates the need for translation headsets or additional equipment. Your audience, regardless of location, can access the translations on their mobile devices through a QR code or URL. They can either listen to the audio interpretation or read the captions.

ACT also benefits audiences who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or simply prefer reading text. Captions ensure everyone can follow along and fully participate in your event.

How does bidirectional translation work?

It simply means you can switch the source and target languages in real time. You simply click a button to toggle between languages and the Language Switcher will instantly switch to a different captioner. For example, if your speaker starts with Spanish (source language), you can display subtitles in English (target language). Then, when they switch to English, you can produce Spanish subtitles. This is designed for interviews or Q&A with multilingual participants. See a video about bidirectional translation here.
